Costco shoppers outraged as company ditches popular travel discount

Costco shoppers are not happy after the company stopped providing customers with one of their most popular travel discounts.
The wholesale retailer, which boasts around 137 million annual members, has suddenly stopped providing shoppers with travel discounts to one specific location. Costco offers various discounts and deals to members, including savings on cruises, escorted tours, and hotel stays in destinations like Oahu, Cancun, the Dominican Republic, Orlando, San Diego, Las Vegas, and more.
But earlier this month, one shopper took to the ‘Disney Planning’ subreddit, to share a screenshot from the Costco website, pointing out that the grocery chain would no longer be accepting reservations to Disneyland Resorts, in Anaheim, California.
The website reads: “Costco Travel is not accepting new reservations to the Disneyland Resort. Guests with existing packages through 2025 can still modify their reservations by calling (877) 849-2730.”
While Disneyland in California is no longer included in the Costco discount, Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida is still covered. Additionally, Costco members can get discounts on tickets to both parks.
Costco has not addressed the reason why the Disneyland Resort discount was removed, or whether it will eventually be reinstated.
One frustrated customer wrote on Reddit, “This is disappointing, I also was pricing a trip earlier in the week! Gonna miss that gift card.”
The comment was in reference to how the Disneyland Resort packages usually included extra perks such as pins and gift cards.
Another fan of the discontinued package wrote, “Oh wtf I loved using Costco for Disneyland vacation packages. The perks for staying on property were sooooo good. This is lame.”
Despite the disappointing change for some customers, Costco has ensured that other fan-favorite discounts will remain as the world enters a period of economic uncertainty.
The company has ensured that the legendary $1.50 hot dog deal, which is a staple of the beloved food court, will not go up, despite rising inflation.
The chain has also announced that it will expand its gas stations, with new operating hours allowing people to obtain the discounted fuel at earlier and later times of the day.
