RICHMOND, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Just like we’ve seen Charlottesville and Albemarle update their strategic plans, Virginia’s top tourism promoter is updating its strategic plan. Virginia Tourism Corporation Director of Operations and Industry Caitlin Johnson says they’ve brought on leading tourism development consultant Hunden Partners to help do the work in comprising new 3-year strategic plans. She says they’ll be conducting focus groups, interviews, and surveys and engage more than 3000 tourism business stakeholders throughout the Commonwealth toward having a report ready in the fall. They’ll be doing different plans, one statewide and then individual local plans for the 10 local tourism divisions.
She says strategies are always being examined and tweaked to see how Virginia stacks up against other destinations and find how they can attract more travelers and encourage current travelers to stay longer.
